About Joe
Scales and arpeggios often serve as the foundation for complex expression, yet many players overlook how these basics inform modern composition. I offer deep expertise in pop and contemporary styles alongside rigorous training in sight transposition and memorization techniques. My 13 years of teaching and performing have shown me that dynamics and expression are the true keys to clarity.
Students ranging from college hopefuls to adults starting fresh come to me for this grounded approach. I prefer to treat pieces by Bartok or Ligeti as accessible music rather than intimidating academic puzzles. This perspective has shaped my work with many musicians over 13 years in the Denver area. I enjoy finding the right musical path for whoever sits at the keys.

Why should your practice routine feel like a chore instead of an exploration of sound? Teaching often relies on stiff structures, but I prefer to adapt my methods to the specific music that keeps you motivated.
We spend our 10 minutes of focus on the technical challenges that actually prevent you from playing what you enjoy. Custom sheet music arrangements for songs you choose are a cornerstone of my approach.
