About Haisum
Hello! My name is Haisum Ali, and I am a passionate chess player and tutor with a Chess.com Rapid rating of over 2000.
Over the years, I have dedicated countless hours to studying and playing chess, developing a strong understanding of strategy, tactics, and the principles that lead to consistent improvement. My experience has allowed me to reach a level achieved by only a small percentage of online players, and I enjoy sharing that knowledge with others.
I particularly enjoy teaching children and beginners because I find it rewarding to help students build confidence and discover the excitement of chess. Seeing students improve their understanding of the game and achieve their goals is one of the most satisfying parts of teaching.
As a tutor, I strive to be patient, supportive, and professional. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to match each individual's needs and pace. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and steadily improving.

My lessons are structured, interactive, and tailored to each student's level and goals. I focus on helping students understand the ideas behind chess rather than simply memorizing moves. This approach allows them to develop strong fundamentals and continue improving independently.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and may include a combination of instruction, tactical puzzles, game analysis, and practical exercises. For beginners, we focus on learning the rules, piece coordination, basic tactics, and essential principles. As students improve, we work on strategy, planning, endgames, and analyzing their own games to identify strengths and weaknesses.
I believe the best way to learn chess is through active participation, so students are encouraged to think through positions, explain their ideas, and solve problems during lessons. This keeps lessons engaging and helps build confidence and critical thinking skills.
I have a Chess.com Rapid rating of over 2000, placing me among the top players on the platform. In addition to my own playing experience, I have successfully helped friends improve their ratings and understanding of the game through personalized guidance and coaching.
My lessons are primarily designed for kids and complete beginners, but I am also happy to work with improving players who want to strengthen their fundamentals and take their game to the next level. Lessons are available in both English and Urdu, either online or in person within Karachi (subject to location).
