About Akanksha
Hi, I'm Akanksha!
I'm a maker, researcher, and lifelong learner based in India — and I genuinely believe that handmade craft has the power to slow you down in the best possible way.
My journey with wire jewelry and suncatchers began the way most good things do: with curiosity and a lot of trial and error. What started as a personal creative outlet grew into my own handmade goods store where I design and sell wire-wrapped gemstone jewelry and suncatchers. Everything I teach, I have built, broken, and rebuilt myself — so you're learning from someone who has actually been in the weeds with the materials, not just someone who read about them.
Beyond making, I bring a thoughtful, research-informed perspective to everything I do. I'm an incoming postgraduate student in Cognitive Science at IIT Gandhinagar, with a background in computational mathematics and a deep interest in how people learn and process new skills. That means I don't just show you *what* to do — I think carefully about *how* to explain it so it actually makes sense to you.

About My Classes
My classes are designed for complete beginners and curious adults who've always wanted to make something beautiful with their hands but didn't know where to start. No prior craft experience is needed — just an open mind and a willingness to slow down and enjoy the process.
How I Teach
I believe the best way to learn a craft is to understand it, not just replicate it. Each session begins with a short introduction to the materials — the properties of different wires, how gemstones and beads interact with light, what makes a suncatcher actually catch the sun. From there, we move into guided making, where I walk you through each step at a comfortable pace, explaining the why behind every technique as we go.
Class Structure
A typical session runs as follows:
- Warm-up — handling materials, understanding tools, getting comfortable
- Guided project — building a piece step by step together
- Free exploration — space to experiment, ask questions, and personalize your work
- Reflection — what worked, what to try next time
What Makes My Classes Different
I'm not just a teacher — I'm an active maker. I run my own handmade goods store and everything I teach comes from real, hands-on experience sourcing materials, refining techniques, and learning what actually works. That practitioner perspective means you're learning craft that is lived in, not just demonstrated.
I also bring a research-oriented mindset to teaching — I pay attention to how people learn, where they get stuck, and how to explain things in ways that genuinely click. Sessions are unhurried, encouraging, and adapt to your pace.
