About Alexa
I have a BA in Art History and an MFA in Community Art Programs. My passion are art and reading. I have worked with students of all ages as an art educator, and worked with students in elementary and junior high for ELA and Literature. My own education for my BA and MFA required developing extensive research and essay writing skills. I have volunteered at a writing lab for my university learning how to assist others in their writing. While pursuing my MFA, I was a Teaching Assistant for college professors and assisted students with their research essays and class projects.

Lessons will be structured around the grade level and needs of each individual student. I believe lessons can change based on what the students need and respond well to in tutoring sessions. What works for some students doesn't work for others, so I believe lessons should be fluid and change based on the students.
6-12/College Essay Writing: For students working on developing essays, we will focus on breaking down the paper, exploring how to utilize effective research techniques, and develop skills for self editing.
K- 5 Reading/Writing: Tutoring for younger students working on developing their reading and writing skills, will entail development of vocabulary, reading short stories, and learning how to build a sentence then paragraphs.
