About Firdaus
I am Firdaus and I am currently a first-year Civil Engineering student at the University of Warwick. Being in the field that I am, naturally, I really enjoy maths and science and the engineering field to me represents a way to apply these two subjects in a real-life context and help develop various innovations.

During my school years, my main approach when revising was practice, practice and more practice! Whether that be exam papers or active recalling methods. In addition, I always put an emphasis on not only learning the content but also grasping key concepts. In fact, when it comes to revision something that deters a lot of students from revising effectively is a lack of understanding on how to even approach a subject: during my GCSEs and A-Levels, one method I used to implement was jotting down any information I knew about a topic and then develop a revision strategy from there based on whatever key understandings I was lacking. The goal here was to eventually be able to recall everything I was meant to learn and write most of it down. I still use this method and aim to implement this with students when tutoring.
My focus when tutoring is to help students gain confidence in the subject and I will be planning lessons by helping students identify areas of the subject they are confident in and put that to test. I will also help identify areas that need more work put into and hopefully develop an appropriate revision strategy for these.
